Sea Monsters

Once upon a time at the very edge of the known world lived Sea Monsters. They loved nothing more than eating sailors, wrecking ships and wreaking havoc on the high seas. Returning to port seafarers told tales of these Monsters and the map makers added them to their charts. It seemed the dastardly beasts were everywhere!

Tuby brings back to life these ancient myths with an exhibition featuring eight of the most notorious Sea Monsters. Each Monster has been carefully designed with reference to the tales and the actual sea creatures most likely to be the origin of the stories. The Monster is then made into a character with influences from cartoons, comics and manga. The character is presented as a watercolour painting of the specimen in the tradition of Natural History Illustration.
