Trader Whale

This is my first Sea Monster inspired by London and my new home on the North Sea.
I love this Right Whale most of all because it is my first attempt at a Sea Monster! Well actually this painting is my second attempt of the character but the first does not bear showing. The painting is still raw, finding my way, unsure, fumbling in the dark, I know the form is there but how to describe it.
I had just moved to Berwick-upon-Tweed, an old whaling Town, when I created the dapper character, harpoon through his bowler hat signaling a lucky escape. A pocket watch for timing the market. This is the whale of the trading floor, the guy that takes monsterous positions in stock. Who knew it was an actual Cetacean?
